Qualifications:
a) Holders of a degree, or equivalent qualification, in Nursing; b) Holders of an undergraduate degree from another country conferred following a 1st cycle of studies in Nursing, organized according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a state adhering to this Process and with a duration of 240 ECTS; c) Holders of an undergraduate degree from another country that is recognized as meeting the objectives of a degree in Nursing by the Technical-Scientific Council of the School of Higher Education in Health Sciences at Guarda Polytechnic Institute; d) Holders of a scientific or professional school curriculum, which is recognized as attesting to the capacity to carry out this cycle of studies by the Technical-Scientific Council of the School of Higher Education in Health Sciences.

- Nurses who demonstrate an interest in expanding their knowledge and in acquiring specific skills of nurses specializing in child health and paediatric nursing. - Motivation for the development of skills in the area of continuous quality improvement; care management; the development of professional learning and professional, ethical and legal responsibility. - Interest in current issues in health sciences.
Methodologies:
The teaching methodologies and pedagogical didactics to be implemented based on the learning objectives of the curricular units are presented by the professors and confirmed by the elements of the Coordinating Committee of the Master's Degree in Nursing at the beginning of the course. A strong concern that underlies this study plan is related to the development of Specific Skills of a Specialist Nurse in Child Health Nursing and Paediatrics stipulated by the National Council of Nursing. As can be seen through the analysis of the Operational Guidelines of the Curricular Units, there is a systematic concern in adapting the teaching methodologies to the specific objectives of the Curricular Units and the Course.
Output profile: The specialist nurse in Child Health Nursing and Paediatrics must have common and specific skills (National Council of Nursing), to respond to complex situations that require diagnosis, planning, nursing interventions and assessment of the child, family and community.
On the other hand, because the candidate has adequate scientific and technical knowledge, the specialist nurse in Child Health Nursing and Paediatrics must guide their action by humanistic principles and a sense of responsibility. The daily practice in specialized units requires specific technical interventions and permanent innovation, creativity and an interventional attitude towards change, together with the health team.
This perspective has as its essential objective the management of quality of life standards with the individual, groups and community, essentially at the three levels of prevention, contributing to a better quality of life for the population.
The specialist nurse in Child Health Nursing and Pediatrics must demonstrate competencies of reception and specialized nursing intervention with the child/young person, family and community in the context of health and disease promotion.
Career Opportunities:
Specialist nurses in Child Health Nursing and Paediatrics can develop their activity in all childcare health units.
Nurses with a Master’s in Child Health Nursing and Paediatrics, according to the skills acquired during training, will be able to develop in all health units, especially in paediatric services, neonatology / neonatal care units, neonatal intensive care units and paediatric, Health Centres, specialized clinics, child support institutions where the provision of care focuses on and involves children of paediatric age and their families. These care units exist, both in the public and in the private sector, at national and international levels.
